NS Residence explores creating quiet luxury and spaciousness in a small house. A cube within the linear plan, delineates private and common spaces and contains a bathroom, storage, and mechanicals. Unobscured sight lines expand the sense of spaciousness. Full height glass sliders open onto a simple courtyard, extending the interior and visually connecting to the space outside. A monochromatic material palette blurs lines and adds softness to the architecture. Concrete, lime plaster, and microcement were chosen for their endurance, texture, and hand rendered qualities. Linen and woolen textiles in muted hues add another subtle layer of texture. Recessed strip lighting enhances the architectural linearity.
